Senate Unanimously Supports American Indian Veterans Memorial
JUNEAU – Today the Alaska Senate unanimously passed Senate Joint Resolution 7, sponsored by Senator Bill Wielechowski (D-Anchorage). This bill supports the construction of a monument in our nation’s capital honoring the service of Alaska Native and American Indian veterans of the United States armed forces.
“Alaska Natives have served honorably in all military conflicts since World War II. This is one small way to recognize the generations of Alaska Natives and American Indians, including 5,500 living Alaska Native veterans, for their patriotism, sacrifice and dedication to our country,” said Senator Wielechowski.
SJR 7 passed the Senate by an 17-0 vote; it now heads to the House for consideration.
