Sham Jam 30: Record Breaking Proceeds, Record Breaking Fun
JUNEAU – Last Friday Senator Johnny Ellis (D-Anchorage), Senator Dennis Egan, and organizers of the Alaska Young Democrats annual charity fundraiser, The Sham Jam, presented Millie Ryan of REACH and Canvas artists with a check for $7,801.
In its 30th year, the Sham Jam is an annual event organized and hosted by Alaska Young Democrats to benefit a local Juneau charity. All proceeds from Sham Jam 30 ticket sales go directly to the charity chosen by a volunteer committee of organizers. This year’s event raised $7,801.
“This was the most successful Sham Jam ever, in fundraising and fun. I am proud to be part of an event that welcomes all and benefits a fantastic group like The Canvas, which is such a valuable asset to the community of Juneau,” said Senator Johnny Ellis (D-Anchorage).
This is the 3rd year the event benefited The Canvas Arts Center. A division of REACH, the Canvas provides studio, pottery, and gallery facilities for the Juneau arts community with the goal of providing a supportive environment that fosters creativity and inclusion of adults with disabilities through shared art experiences and exhibitions.
