Senate Minority Leader Berta Gardner (D-Anchorage) Responds to the Decision of Senator Donny Olson (D-Golovin) to Leave the Democratic Caucus
JUNEAU – “Naturally we are disappointed to lose Senator Olson from our caucus, but we acknowledge every legislator’s responsibility to make decisions which they feel are in the best interest of their district.
“We are, however, pleased that the Republican majority caucus will benefit from the influence of a new member with strong progressive values and interests like support for public education, and Medicaid expansion.
“We wish Senator Olson well in the Republican caucus as they take on the urgent responsibility of creating a fiscal plan. We continue to look forward to seeing that plan, including their proposed cuts and new revenues.”
