Senator Wielechowski and Rep. LeDoux to Host East Side Town Hall Meeting
Alaskans asked to provide input on progress of legislative session
JUNEAU – We are over a month into the legislative session. Senator Bill Wielechowski and Representative Gabrielle LeDoux invite East Anchorage and JBER constituents to a Town Hall constituent meeting on Saturday, February 27th, from 3:30-5:00pm at the East High School Common Room.
“We will miss the presence of our colleague and dear friend, the late Rep. Max Gruenberg, at our event,” said Senator Wielechowski (D-Anchorage). “But I know he is with us in spirit, inspiring us as we press forward with the work at hand.”
Rep. LeDoux (R-Anchorage) echoed the sentiment, saying, “I knew Max for over 30 years. I will deeply miss his presence at our meeting this Saturday, however Max of all people would want us to go on – doing the people’s work.”
Attendees will be encouraged to ask questions and share their thoughts about the progress of the legislature to date, how to address our budget shortfall while preserving vital services important to Alaskans, and what they think about current bills in progress.
“The House is focusing exclusively on the budget for now. We know the state has immense issues but we are dedicated to working toward a solution. I am excited to be home to be hearing from my constituents,” said Rep. LeDoux.
“This session has been challenging so far,” said Sen. Wielechowski. “But we are still moving forward with some good bills, and I’m really looking forward to being home in Anchorage, and getting input from East Side and JBER residents on the issues that matter to them.”
