Legislators Invite Constituents to Attend
Anchorage Caucus Meeting
Public Input Sought on Issues Facing Lawmakers
JUNEAU — Anchorage Senate Democrats Berta Gardner, Bill Wielechowski, and Tom Begich strongly encourage public participation Saturday during the annual in-session Anchorage Caucus meeting. This gathering gives Anchorage area residents the opportunity to share their views on issues currently being considered by the Alaska State Legislature.
This year’s meeting will be held in the new Anchorage Legislative Information Office on the corner of Minnesota Drive and Benson Blvd., in the Wells Fargo Building. Instead of waiting to address all Anchorage legislators, constituents will be guided to their own legislators who will be organized by district on the fourth floor.
In addition to a smaller, more targeted venue, constituents will have the opportunity to weigh in on how they would address our fiscal situation.
“People watch the legislature on Gavel to Gavel, and they read about what happens in the paper after the fact, but this is the best opportunity for people who really want to share their thoughts and ideas in person with legislators while the session is still going on,” said Senator Berta Gardner. “I hope for a large and enthusiastic turnout.”
The public and the media are encouraged to attend.
