Call to Action —
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I’m happy to tell you that SB156, my proposal for extended supply of birth control is moving through the Senate. The bill would provide as an option to consumers a 12 month supply of birth control at one time, in order to avoid the hassle of going to the pharmacy once a month, or once every three months. Similar legislation has passed with bipartisan support in Oregon, Washington, and California, and is proving to be a cost saver not only for consumers but also for insurance companies who can negotiate for quantity discounts. The benefit is especially important in a place like Alaska where folks might spend long periods out of reach of a pharmacy.
Our next committee hearing is in Labor and Commerce, Tuesday, April 05, 2016 at 1:30 pm. If you would like to call in to testify, you can do so at 1-844-586-9085, or appear in person in the Beltz room at the State Capitol in Juneau.
If you would like to send messages of support you can do so to Sen.Mia.Costello@akleg.gov. Please feel free to share this message with friends or family who might also support SB 156!
I’m Berta and I’m still listening,
