27th Ave Pedestrian/Bicylist Safety Improvements

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Senator Gardner listens to public testimony during a committee hearing in Juneau this past session.
Representative Tuck and Senator Gardner listening to Alaskans on Thursday night.

The 27th Ave Pedestrian safety Improvement project is located within Spenard, one of Anchorage’s most diverse neighborhoods. Pedestrian and bicycle upgrades in this area are a high priority due to five schools in or near the project and to the high volume of walking and bicycle trips to the area.

Concept designs will be presented for comment at an Open House on June 25 from 6 to 8pm.  The goals of the project are to:

•  Promote year-round walking to improve connectivity

•  Reduce conflicts between motorized and non-motorized traffic

•  Encourage bicycling by people of all ages and abilities

The municipal public works department and project planners encourage residents to stop by to learn more about the project, ask questions and provide feedback.

For more information, you can contact the Planner & Public Involvement Coordinator at 907-646-9659 or visit the website www.W27thAveImprovements.com.
