Early Voting has Begun

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Senator Berta Gardner showing her support for Alaska’s public education system.
Senator Berta Gardner showing her support for Alaska’s public education system.

Early voting for this year's August 19th Primary election began yesterday.  Voting early has many benefits: it provides greater access to voting, avoids waiting in line on Election Day, and is reported to improve both voter satisfaction and poll worker performance.

Anchorage voters can vote now at either of two locations:

  • Region II Elections Office
    2525 Gambell Street Suite 100
    August 4 through August 18
    9:00am to 5:00pm

  • Anchorage City Hall
    632 W 4th Ave
    August 4 through August 18
    9:00am to 5:00pm

Also, if you’re on the University campus on August 18, between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm, you can vote at the UAA Student Union the day before the election.

If you would like more information about the primary ballot (Voting Election Pamphlet) or need to locate your voting district, you can visit the Division of Elections’ website at http://www.elections.alaska.gov/.

If you cannot make it to the polls before the primary election, don’t fret. You can vote by absentee ballot. To get registered for an absentee ballot, please visit:  http://www.elections.alaska.gov/vi_bymail_byfax.php. Applications are due Saturday, August 9.

If you plan to vote on election day and you are not sure where your poling location is, you can visit webapp.state.ak.us/electionsLookup/JSP/VoterLookupMain.jsp and find your specific voter information.

As always, we stand ready to answer any questions you may have.

I’m Berta and I’m still listening,

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact my office
