September Community Councils
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Community Councils are a great way to get involved in your neighborhood. They can help with quality of life issues by advocating for street rehabilitation, code enforcement or promoting community projects. They are your voice to the city and the state government.
After a summer break, most Community Councils begin their monthy meetings in September and are open to all residents or property owners. I encourage you to attend your community council if you have a concern or want to become more involved. Below are upcoming dates and locations. If you don’t know which community council you belong to, just click the community council link and it will take you to a map of its boundary and website. You can also explore agendas of upcoming meetings and minutes of previous meetings.
One community issue that is dear to my heart is the University Lake Park development, which will include trails, a dog park, and other green space for neighbors to enjoy. On Thursday, September 10th, from 5:30 to 7:30 at the BP Energy Center (900 E. Benson Blvd), there will be an open house to discuss this new park and how it can improve the University area neighborhood. Please consider attending this event to hear more about the park and join in this important conversation.
I’m Berta and I’m still listening,
