Priorities for this Session
This year I’ll be focusing on improving our education system, providing affordable energy for Alaskans and saving for future generations.
Energy: Once again, oil taxes and affordable energy will be at the top of the agenda. Revision of the current tax structure should increase flow in the Trans-Alaska pipeline, create jobs and opportunities for Alaskans and Alaskan businesses and provide Alaska with the resources to deliver affordable energy solutions to all Alaskans.
Education: Our greatest resource is Alaska’s youth. We need to strengthen our schools and University system, as well as provide access to voluntary pre-K opportunities for Alaskan families.
Savings: Over the past 6 years, I have worked hard to help save over $17 billion dollars for the future and will continue to advocate for setting aside revenue surpluses for future generations.
Supporting our Service Members and Veterans: I will continue to push for legislation and funding to help those who serve and continue to serve our nation.
Bill with Senators Johnny Ellis, Lyman Hoffman, Berta Gardner and Hollis French
This year my committee assignments will allow me to work on important legislation relating to our military and veteran community, providing affordable energy to all Alaskans and addressing crime and public safety. I’ll be serving on the following committees:
· Joint Armed Services Committee
· Senate State Affairs Committee
· Senate Judiciary Committee
· Senate In-State Energy Committee
