Education: Front and Center
After four years of flat funding, teacher layoffs, and program cuts, I believe it is time to increase per student education funding. I have co-sponsored legislation to do that. SB 147 would increase the Base Student Allocation adjust it every year for inflation. There are many other ways we can make our schools the best in the world, and I’d like to hear your ideas.
Route Chosen for U-Med Access Road
The Department of Transportation recently announced it has selected a route for the U-Med Access road. On Tuesday evening, it presented details about this route to more than 150 people at East High School. The route would connect Elmore Road with Bragaw Street. Read more here or review the presentation from Tuesday. If you have questions or comments, contact Rachel Steer at 562-2000 or e-mail email@example.com
Your Neighbors on the Issues
Thanks to everyone who responded to my survey and provided feedback and ideas for this legislative session. I rely on your help to represent East Anchorage families. Nearly 90% of you would like to see funding for schools increased or maintained. You also told me that improving jobs, keeping the economy strong, and expanding access to affordable healthcare are very important. Here’s how your neighbors feel about other critical issues.
