Public Hearing on the Park
THIS TUESDAY

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

It’s time to “put the park where the people are.”  For years, East Anchorage neighbors have worked tirelessly with elected officials to establish a Muldoon Town Square Park.

This Tuesday, the Anchorage Assembly will be considering Ordinance 2015-77 to dedicate the 28-acre, former Alaska Greenhouse site (Muldoon & Debarr) as permanent parkland.  Please speak out and share your support!

What: Public Hearing on Muldoon Town Square Park land

When: This Tuesday, July 14th at 6:00pm

Where: Assembly Chambers in the Loussac Library

Click HERE to read my letter of support and learn more about why passing this ordinance is so important.

Riviera Terrace Mobile Home Park

This week, I co-hosted a meeting with Rep. Gruenberg and Assemblymen Pete Petersen and Paul Honeman regarding issues our constituents in the Riviera Terrace Mobile Home Park have brought to our attention.

A private development company purchased the park and is in the process of re-developing it into high-end apartments, section by section. This is indicative of a larger problem we face in Anchorage with a shortage of affordable housing.  My colleagues and I are putting our heads together to help this neighborhood and ensure their voices are heard.

Muldoon Farmers Market

The Muldoon Farmers Market is off to a great start!  Over 500 neighbors came out to enjoy the festivities on Opening Day and we couldn’t have had a better time!

The market will be open every Saturday, 9am – 2pm at Begich Middle School (East parking lot) through September 26th.  Come out to enjoy AK-Grown veggies, local honey, coffee & food carts, crafts, face-painting, free books and more.

See you at the Market!

thread Book Drive

This summer, I am again teaming up with thread (Alaska’s statewide child care resource and referral agency) to promote the 9th annual children’s book drive and Book Party in the Park.

Throughout July, donations of new and gently used children’s books are being collected around town to be given out to children and families at the Book Party on August 13thThis free public event supports literacy and quality family reading time.

Book donations are accepted at all Anchorage Fred Meyer stores, the JBER Consolidated Library (Chilkoot Ave., Building #7), thread (3550 Commercial Dr., Suite 203) and the Anchorage Legislative Office (733 W. 4th Ave., Suite 100).  Thank you for supporting child literacy!

You are also always welcome to contact me directly. I am here to represent you!

Warmly,

[signed]
