Dear Friends and Neighbors,
The Muldoon Town Square Park needs your support TONIGHT! The Anchorage Assembly is holding a public hearing on the East Anchorage District Plan at 6pm in the Assembly Chambers at the Loussac Library. Your testimony can help get us one step closer to making the Muldoon Town Square Park a reality.
The proposed 28-acre park encompasses the former Alaska Greenhouse property at the intersection of Muldoon Road and DeBarr Road and would preserve one of the last large green spaces in East Anchorage. A park of this size would provide a perfect gathering place for the many diverse groups within our community and a local, accessible recreation area.
Along with the Northeast Community Council and an overwhelming majority of neighbors, I have opposed commercial development of the front portion of the park strip along Muldoon Road. Not only would this isolate the park from view and limit public access to the majority of residents, building new commercial spaces is inconsistent with East Anchorage Plan’s vision of redevelopment elsewhere along the corridor.
I encourage you to voice your enthusiastic support for the Muldoon Town Square Park and the benefits to our community that it will provide.
I support the Muldoon Town Square Park and have fought for state capital funds to establish this park
Get Involved in the Muldoon Farmer’s Market
Have you ever wished for a Farmer’s Market right here in East Anchorage? If you’re as excited as I am about making this a reality for our community, please join me this Thursday, December 4th at 6:30pm in the Northeast Boys and Girls Club Conference Room (1251 Muldoon Rd Suite 153 – where Northeast Community Council meetings are held) to discuss how we can work together to establish a local market by next summer.
Bring your energy, ideas to share and anyone else enthusiastic about helping to organize the Muldoon Farmer’s Market. Mark Butler, one of the founders of the very successful Spenard Farmer’s Market will be there to speak about establishing the market in West Anchorage and share his wisdom from that experience.
If you have any questions about this meeting or cannot attend but would like to provide your suggestions, please feel free to call or email.
